“There are not many people I can be completely myself with, to share my deepest thoughts and feelings with but within a few moments I find myself feeling completely safe with Gemma. She guides me through the dark bits so that I can let go of them and make space for light and the wisdom within to come through. It's always magical talking to Gemma.”
—Madhu B.
I'm a teacher, SEND specialist, facilitator, mum of three grown-up daughters and lover of nature, music, singing and dancing.
I've always been fascinated by people. What makes us tick, why we do the things we do, how our experiences shape us and what helps us find our way forward when life gets complicated.
I'm endlessly curious about what's going on beneath the surface. Because, as I've discovered time and time again, there's always more to the story.
And I love a good story.
A little more about me…
My working life has taken me in all sorts of directions, although looking back, there's a thread running through all of it.
I've spent many years teaching children and young people, both in schools and in their own homes, particularly those who experience the world a little differently or struggle to fit into the systems around them.
Alongside teaching, I've studied educational leadership, explored coaching and reflective practice, facilitated women's circles and trained in shamanic and energy healing practices.
Motherhood has shaped much of this journey too. Raising three daughters has been a wonderful, messy, challenging and ever-changing adventure, and has played a big part in my desire to create spaces where women can reconnect with themselves beyond the roles they hold.
My spiritual journey has also been an important part of my life, deepening my connection with nature, ritual, energy work and the power of coming together in circles.
Although my educational work and spiritual practice are separate, I've come to realise that they're rooted in many of the same values: connection, curiosity, compassion and meeting people where they are.
A winding path (as the best ones often are!)
One of the things I love most about my work is noticing those moments when something begins to shift.
A child who suddenly realises they're capable of more than they thought. A parent or educator who sees a challenging situation from a new perspective. A woman who begins to reconnect with a part of herself she'd almost forgotten.
Sometimes that shift comes through conversation or reflection. Sometimes through play, creativity, laughter, music or simply having the space to be heard.
Humour and playfulness are a big part of how I connect with people, particularly children. I take the challenges people face seriously, but I don't believe everything about working through them has to feel serious.
I think of it as helping energy move from stuck to flowing again, whether that's physical, emotional, mental or spiritual.
We can't force these shifts, but we can create the conditions that make them possible: trust, safety, connection, curiosity and a little room to breathe.
And that's what sits at the heart of my work, whatever form it takes.
From feeling stuck to flowing again
You'll probably find me outdoors somewhere, wandering through the countryside with my dog, discovering somewhere new, staring at the stars, reading a book, crocheting or sitting beside a fire.
I love live music, festivals, singing, dancing and spending time with the people I love. I'm happiest when life has a mixture of adventure, connection, laughter and those lovely quiet moments when there's nowhere else I need to be.
I'm still learning, changing and figuring things out as I go. I don't think we ever really stop.
After all, I'm still discovering my own story too.
When I’m not working…
Whether you're looking for support for a child, exploring new perspectives as an educator, or feeling drawn towards my work with mothers and women, you're very welcome here.
Have a look around, see what resonates and, if you'd like to explore working together, I'd love to hear from you.
Shall we connect?
